A LEADERLESS AGE. (Part 1)

(Ezekiel 22:23–30)

Christianity, the architect of Western civilization, is on the verge of losing its grip.
The Christian way of life, which used to be the signpost on life’s highway for the majority of men, is now being rubbished with the mud of agnosticism.

Man no longer accepts the ancient virtues as being essential to the good life — the values of beauty, truth, goodness, equality of races, love, or charity.
The events in the book Animal Farm by George Orwell are coming to play in the world today. In addition to the economic recession ravaging the world, if care is not taken, the end will be disastrous.

Well, the Scriptures are clear concerning this. And so, what we hear today very often are the queries:
“Does it pay?”
“Does it matter?”
“Isn’t truth relative?”
“Doesn’t virtue consist in not being found out?”

To this end, hypocrisy is the order of the day.
We now have philanthropists who are working for future political gains.
Many proclaim Christ with their mouths, but their minds are far from Him (Matthew 15:8; Mark 7:6).

Men have forgotten the laws of life — that what you sow, you will reap. For God is no respecter of persons (Romans 2:11; Deuteronomy 10:17).

Gloom and despondency hang over our age, and religious fundamentalists keep destroying nations, alongside cultism, the mafia, and the likes.
There are civil unrests all over the world.
Many may not be able to express themselves like in America or Hong Kong, where civil rights protests were even turned into looting and hooliganism.

There is a sense of frustration and uncertainty everywhere, and many do not even know what will become of the days ahead in our world.
It is not that our material weapons are less potent than in days gone by; it is the sudden realization that “man cannot live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God” (Deuteronomy 8:3; Matthew 4:4).

Beloved, it is very clear that humanity needs spiritual sustenance if it is to thrive.
This is a realization that we have no purpose, no faith, and no clear-cut aim to propel our future — but have relied only on scientific postulations, forgetting that wisdom is of God, who is Infinite.

Men and women everywhere, bewildered by the present-day happenings, are looking for something to which they can pin their faith.
Multitudes are hungry for soul food, which is not readily available.

The Church is not helping matters, for many tragically worship at false altars.
Many worship the false materialistic gods and have been too occupied with the material world, with its often gilded pretensions and shams.

Today, the Church is being divided by the so-called Seers, Prophets, Apostles, and Pastors, who want to show off their materialistic superiority or prophetic authority over others — forgetting what Apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 4:5:
“Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts. And then shall every man have praise of God.”
“Judge not, that ye be not judged” (Matthew 7:1).
Who made you a judge?

Men and women are yearning to get away from the bewildering chaos of our distraught world today.
If ever a great spiritual leader is needed, the time is now.
We are in serious straits.
We have confused the means of life with the ends we should pursue.
There is a great deal at stake for all who are called by the Name of the Lord.

This is a time to labour in the Spirit for all saints — that we hijack the Kingdom from every force of darkness.
We can only do this in unity, for the Church of Christ is but one.
Much is demanded from us, for there is hard fighting to be done (John 11:12), if the battle is to be won.

When we all live a good moral and spiritual life, the final triumph can be ours.

Onward, Christian Soldiers!!!
