A LEADERLESS AGE. (Part 2)

Isaiah 59:1-19

Who shall lead our generation to a new and more splendid way of living? Who shall inspire a vigorous crusade against the evils of our day? Who shall encourage men and women to seek a better way of life? Who shall empower humanity to walk the way of victory from the weakness of defeat and march unto triumph?

Yes;!!! many are the voices that answer the call to lead us, yet, none answers with that ringing challenge, which alone can bring forth our best endeavors.

For… there are many, but of real moral and Spiritual leadership there appears to be none.

By personal experience; I have been involved in trade unionism before my call to the Altar, but discovered over the years there had been no positive change, but always a wide gap between the capitalists and the masses.

Many we trusted will uphold the struggle were either disgraced or frustrated out of the polluted system, and the lily hearted joined the bandwagon of looters.

At this crucial time of human history in our Nation, The Church remains silent. The institution to which men and women should be able to look for guidance, for inspiration, for leadership and encouragement, answers not.

We see politics as a dirty game and thus we are tossed and driven with the wind like a wave of the sea. We forgot that our participation in righteousness can help the system.

The privileged few who are suppose to speak for us had been bought over with gifts. In disobedience to the Scriptures in Exodus 23: 8 “And thou shall take no gift; for the gift blindeth the wise, and preventeth the words of the righteous.” Then the saying “If you cannot beat them, you join them.”

This is a time when the World is eagerly awaiting the message of renaissance and love, which only The Church can give. This is the time the ideals of Christianity as a way of life, and the only means of saving our buttering world,be proclaimed, but, The Church seems blind to the urgent need of humanity,we have turned everyone to his own way.

It is of note that many are seeking political powers for personal vendetta, religious bigotry, and ethnical hegemony.

Many of the so called youths are a bundle of disappointment measured by the performance of some of them in government.

So conscious is the society of the moral bankruptcy of our age; that even repentant politicians who previously proclaimed the gospel of salvation through material means alone, are now calling for a moral awakening, for a Spiritual revival as the only means of avoiding an impending catastrophe.

We are also in the knowledge that the judiciary also is a gross failure, no more good precedents, for they have forgotten what The Scriptures says in Lev 19:15 “Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment; thou shall not respect the person of the poor, nor honour the person of the mighty: but in righteousness shall thou judge thy neighbor.” (See Exodus 23:3; James 2:9)

There are many facts that judgment favours the rich more than the poor not to talk of the rottenness of The Police Force or the corruption in the Armed Forces. May God have mercy.

The calamities of the last sixty years have rocked our Nation to its very foundation and there are further rumblings of upheavals still to come.

The ordinary Nigerian is conscious that all is not well, but are searching within themselves for the faith and courage that can make possible a brighter tomorrow.

All we need:

Men of spirit, Women of will;

Citizens of muscles, brain and power;

Ready to sacrifice and fit to cope;

Filled with The Spirit of The Most High.

Like Nehemiah,

These are wanted, and Nigeria shall rise again.
