GROWING IN THE SPIRIT (Part 4)

Psalm 91

THE SECRET PLACE (A)

The Psalmist called it, the secret place of the Most High. The composition is the experience and benefits of dwelling in the secret place.

This Psalm was attributed to Moses who God affirmed as His friend and Prophet. “with him I speak, mouth to mouth, even apparently not in dark speeches……”(Num 12:8)

The secret place has a different meaning to individuals seeking God, but for the purpose of this write up we shall highlight some things that we need to know and understand.

It is pertinent for everyone to discover his or her own secret place of communion with God.

For you to enjoy the full benefits of a cell phone, when your battery is well charged you need a place without a network failure and noise interfarence. The secret place is where you can fly on the wings of The Spirit.

A whisper has a little chance of being heard in a noisy environment. We fail to grasp the fact that, the greatest creative energy, works in silence.

We have become acclimatized to noise pollution all around. Noise has become almost essential to our existence, you hardly can find noiseless vicinity around.

However, despite all these hazard of noise pollution,if really we are concerned; yet we can still find areas of quietness and peace in our environment.

It is still possible to find an oasis of silence in the throbbing desert of modern machine dominated life.

But the use of the silence has fallen into neglect; we seem to like noise better than silence. We seem to like how to talk better than how to listen.

In 1kings 19:11-13 The Scriptures says “…. and behold The Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and break into pieces the rocks before The Lord; but The Lord was not in the wind, and after the wind, an earthquake and after an earthquake; a fire and after the fire a “small still voice”,……. And behold there came a voice unto him and said “what doest thou there Elijah?”

When man withdraws into silence, he cut off his contact with his fellow man, looses touch with the familiar and the known, and he is left absolutely alone like Elijah in the cave.

Here you see yourself how weak and vulnerable you are, as you stand face to face with the infinite presence.

In that silence our illusions are shattered and we know who we really are, that without God we cannot face the purpose of our destiny alone to respond to the challenges of life.

Here, its an opportunity to seek and ask for more Grace, but Elijah fidgeted and opinionated for his retirement, unknown to him replacements above 7000 were ready to take his place. (1 kings 19:15-18)….. continued
